Can't U Weather the Storms
By Bahati Osayimwese

Can't U weather the storms?
If I make 4UA movie
Or a long walk thru the park
U may raise your hand 2 thank me
From the depths within your heart.

If it's a warm day in the Summer
U may take a dip beside the beach
Sip on a cool drink and then ponder
The heights of ecstasy that you reach.

If it's a cool day in the Winter
U may have cocoa by the fire
Enjoy your thoughts and remember U R
Blanketed with love that takes U higher.

In the meantime in the Spring
Would U need ME to keep U warm?
And, meanwhile in the Autumn/Fall
Would U need ME at all.

Would your love go on in ev'ry season
Or would it lose its rhythmn and rhyme?
When the sun crosses the equator
Would your love Fall out of time?

The road may be bumpy and shaky
As U travel on the path.
But, will your heart get flaky
As U seek a better weather path?

When an avalanche falls toward thee
Will U catch each others' slack
Or will U all pick up stones
Point your fingers and laugh?

If your kinfolk and friends doubt ME
Will U jump upon the stack?
Or, will U open their eyes 2 C
I'm striving to get you all back on track?

I know U love ME when U R smiling.
Do U still love ME when U R cryin'?

I want 2 know whether
No matter the weather.

I know U can WELcome the warm.
I know U can cruise with the cool.
Can U hold with the cold?

Can U COMPlete with the heat
To carry on inspite of the sandstorm,
Typhoon, flood, eclipse of the sun, moon & stars,
The earthquakes, thunder, lightning,
Tornado, sleet, hail, snow, the hurricanes,
Draught, famine or rain
To preserve what U have in your heart
As I do my part despite any disdain?

If your car runs out of gas
Can't U weather?

If your cell phone goes out
Can't U weather?

If your job sends U thru changes
Can't U weather?

If a loved one passes away
(they shall rest in peace)
Can't U weather?

If folks tire you out
Can't U weather?

If thieves rob all material thangs
Can't U weather?

If politicians frustrate all aims
Can't U weather?

If the news causes U the blues
Can't U weather?

If your kid is sick in bed
Can't U weather?

If the world seems to lose its head
Can't U weather?

In sickness and health
Can't U weather?
In wealth or poverty
Can't U weather?
Weather better or weather worse
Can't U wheather?
Weather good or weather bad
Can't U weather?
I'll see U thru
Can't U weather?

U can WELcome the warm
And know that I love you.

Can't U weather the storm?
And, say I love U 2!

[ responsive prayer written 9-27-05 by Bahati Osayimwese]

Yes LORD.

I believe that I can weather the storms
Be they hurricanes or other trials and tribulations
Whether there be looting, shooting,
Collusion and confusion,
Lying and spying,
All manner of wrongs and disgraces
And spiritual wickedness in high and low places.

I am but a lowly sinner
Seeking refuge from the error of my own ways.
In my darkest hour I give you LORD all praise.

LORD, the world is troubled
And Mother Nature has shown us wrath.
Keep us, dear LORD, in steps ordered to the path.

Help us, dear LORD, 2 B as you'd have us B.
It's written that you will be our GOD
If we will be your people.
May we B all that you'll have us B.

LORD, may our faith keep shining in all seasons
And all day and all night.
May our love for GOD always shine bright.

LORD, teach us to love one another as family.
Without each others' helping hands
Where would any of us B?

LORD, we know how to b cruel.
We know how to be impatient and impolite.
LORD, we know how to steal and kill in the middle of the night.

LORD, we also know how to b kind
We know how to comfort those without homes,
Without cars, without baths, without money and lights.

We need to understand LORD that
Whether we b helpR or helpE
We look 2 thee LORD for which the help B.

LORD, there was a storm called Katrina
And another called Rita in which
Some have perished.
May ye grant they rest in peace
For the lives that we cherished.

For those of us still breathing
Spared from the flood, tornadoes and hurricanes
May ye grant we show praise
For the remainder of all our days.

May you be our GOD.
May we be your people.
Yes, we can weather the storms
And, still know that we love you.

Whether the weather is good or bad;
Whether we're happy or sad;
Whether times are calm or mad;
No matter what matter of weather;
Let's stay together.

LORD, may your love and peace
Be with us forever!
AMEN.
